Fruitstands like this are a common sight in Nairobi. Some prices, Bananas -10 KES, Mangoes – 30 KES, Apples – 25, Pineapples – 75 KES. Depending on the area the stand is in the prices can be lower, these are on the higher end. Regardless one can get a full fruit salad for about $2

These are from the Westlands Branch of Aloha Seafood. was glad to find them. Have posted some dishes with fish n seafood purchased from here on this blog. I saw a Barracuda once. I would like to try that.

cheffinitup-uchumiveggies

Veggies section form Uchumi Supermarket in Sarit centre. Uchumi seems to be having some struggles of late. There is a large contrast between the produce in American supermarkets and some Kenyan ones. The uniformity in American stores almost looks artificial after years of seeing this.

delectable bakery from Naivas in westlands. This is a new supermarket chain and quickly became my favourite. They position the bakery right by the entrance. Good Idea 😛

found_food-ugali-matumbowetfrymistake

A short commentary on getting what you pay for. This was at a more ‘local’ spot. The cost was maybe 150 KES with the small soda. Ugali, Collard greens and Tripe. Now I asked them if they had a dry fry of the tripe, they said only wet fry. The difference is just oil and spice (possibly onions) versus a prep with tomatoes and sauce as pictured. Now i would understand more if there was dry and no wet as it seems dry si the default, but hey…you get what you pay for.
