Cheffin’ Ideas : Mix Stuff Up

It can pay off to try something different with a basic common dish. Either by substituting in ingredients that are commonly used in other ways or just throwing in a bunch of new things into a pan or pot and mixing them up. Some of that is contained in this Gallery.

Githeri is a kikuyu dish of beans and maize. These can be prepared in any way, and can use any of the various strains of beans and corn/maize. Let your mind wander over the options.

For this take on a burger I cut up some Lamb instead of the usual beef patties. Used Spinach instead of Lettuce. Slathered it with some Homemade Peri Peri sauce I purchased form some old neighbours, then threw an egg n cheese on it. Nom to the Nom.

This is a Grown Folks dish. Fried Liver n Kidney. This is the basic way I do it with Onions, hot Peppers and Cilantro. You can add numerous combinations of spices, herbs and veg to it for different tastes. Are kids really not fans of the sweetbreads?

I got the Apples in Salad idea form my Mom. It is a good one. Here it is with Hot peppers, Carrots, Lettuce and Tuna. All the ingredients have relatively different textures and were cut in different sizes. Fun tasty experience all-in-all.
