Some eats from around Nairobi.
Nairobi has at least 5 KFC franchises that I know of. I went to one. Snuck some pics. Decent fries, good non greasy chicken. Now it it more expensive than the regular Kenyan chips n chicken spots…and it was relatively new….anyway I hope they keep up their quality. They deliver too.
Chips (fries) – 50 KES, Sausage – 25 KES and can add a 300ML Soda for 35 KES which totals roughly a US dollar. This is form my favourite place in the CentralBusiness District. it is conveniently buy the Bus station I often used. This is more of the typical Kenyan fare. Really find it tasty.
I like that they still have glass bottles here. In the plastic are condiments, Salt, vinegar and some chilli sauce.
The chicken and chips spots are a holdover from the Brits. They are plentiful and some stay open Late night. Such as this one I often frequented after some late nights out.
Not the best picture but this is Chicken Inn. All that is pictured came to about 1200 KES. A little over $10. They would be what i consider the competition for KFC. They do a piss poor job on fries. They do have a double chicken cheese burger that is one of the few times where the burger itself is larger than what is shown in advertising.
So this is why I usually stick to places I know. I had tried this place once before…may have been late…may have been a tad intoxicated, but regardless they had warm coleslaw. I do not know if they warmed it intentionally or if it was just a side effect of unceremoniously dumping it on the fries.
Bhajia mix. This is an Indian fried snack that comprises of various battered Vegetables. The most common ones contain potatoes. These were form a spot in the MP Shah Hospital.
Thats it for this post. Never tried this spot but was impressed by the logo, and putting it here as an example of local chains starting to make their mark.
