Decided to get some local fruits and make a salad today.

      

2 Kampala Bananas – 48 kshs

An Apple mango – 36 kshs

Local Plums – 50 kshs

Pack of Granny Smith Apples – 146 kshs

Green Passion Fruits – 95 kshs

slice of Watermeplumpllon – 20 kshs

total 395 kshs ( $ 4.30)

   

I prefer my bananas…most of my fruits to be somewhat under-ripe. Passion fruit season is going towards its end and the plums have been in season for a few weeks. I I used about half the passion fruits and cherries, most of an apple and the mango and one banana for the salad. So the total cost for the salad would actually be as low as $ 2.50

If you have an steady occupation (actually arguably even without one) it is relatively easy to eat healthily here. There will be more posts featuring Local foods and/or seasonal foods.
